Coldenhove goes green: more than only FSC®!

What is FSC®?

We have all heard about going green, protecting the forest, opting for recycled paper to reduce our carbon footprint; how much do we really know, and done to do our part to be eco-friendly?
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) was founded in 1993 to address the concerns of global deforestation and is a groundbreaking forum that brings together the northern and southern hemisphere voices to define environmentally friendly, socially beneficial and economically viable forest management and identify resources.
Coldenhove decided to join the mission and certify all the manufactured paper at our mills in order to help and facilitate the management of the forests properly, according to principles and criteria that combine ecological guarantees with social benefits and economic viability.
The organization preserves and restores the ecosystem and the environment, aiming to avoid the negative impact by following a strict set of standards that paper products must meet.
Every 10 years portions of the forest are allowed to be harvested, if they are replanted immediately. During the 10 years of regeneration, the organization then monitors the forest and the wildlife closely in order to maintain and protect the ecosystems restoration.

Why is it important for Coldenhove?

According to the Forest Stewardship Council, paper manufacturers are requested to have at least 70% of the used wood pulp certified, Coldenhove decided to guarantee its customers the FSC® 100% label for the entire paper portfolio!
By obtaining this certification Coldenhove aims to ensure its customers that the wood used in a certain product comes from an ecologically responsible, socially fair, and economically viable managed production process.
The FSC® label recognizes responsible production of forest products, allowing consumers and companies to make informed purchasing decisions; this will benefit people and the environment and add value for our customers!
